Took this picture in Central Park some time ago, he was playing by himself, was accepting no money just wanted to play. He was amazing. Love the park.

So I took this picture in Downtown LA, never seen anyone with a surfboard in a subway or bus in Downtown LA, pretty cool. I was taking the Red Line to the 7th & Metro station to transfer to the Blue Line and the Blue line is completely shut down so I walk up to the street level there at Hope St and before you know it I have about 17 people, mostly tourist and non downtown locals, following me because I have convinced surfboard guy here and a few others that if we take the bus here at Hope we can get to the Washingtom station to get the Blue Line there and so the bus comes and we dominated that bus with at least 28 people boarding at that point, pretty awesome and fun. They did ask me a million times, “Are you sure” but I was and we got there and it was all good. Just another LA moment.

Anyone remember Club USA in NYC?

Anyone remember CLUB USA back in the day? I know it was so Midtown with the mix of typical tourist crowd, club kids and euro-trash but that was of the most incredibly decorated clubs I had ever seen. Their was always better DJ’s playing across town over at the Limelight but today I was driving home from my brothers and was remembering the best part of that place, the slide. There was a slide from the mezzanine level that spiraled down to the bottom. The workers there would be there at the top giving you a sack to sit on as you slid down. It was pretty awesome and made me feel like a kid always. The fun part was the more you drank the more you kept wanting to go up to slide down the slide by yourself and then turned into going down with one other friend and then another one until you were going down with four people, wow, good times and good laughs back in the day. Good memories.

I spent the weekend in Long Beach,Ca this weekend. I took the train down from Downtown LA to the LBC and it was kind of interesting. I have been on some funny trains in my day but the Blue Line was something else, a lot of cutty’s on this train. This one guy was in concert singing at the top of his lungs and then went into air guitar for his solo. When I got off it was pretty relieving. 2nd street in the LBC reminds me a lot of Chicago around the Bucktown area. I was in Belmont Heights and it was a nice place. i enjoyed Long Beach more than I thought. Finished my weekend today on Pine with my girlfriend over at Pinkberry and it was divine. As I got back on the train to come back to LA I quickly found myself at Staples Center/LA Live and I have to admit that it was great to be home in the city. The beach is nice but I was made in the city.

In New York City this is the way of life, taking the train everywhere. In LA this is kind of not the life. The trains out here dont go everywhere but I take it pretty much everywhere. Most LA people here never take the train anywhere, they much rather drive everywhere if they could. When I take them on the train here they like it but then never want to go on again. I guess sometimes people are just set in their ways. I do like to drive here in LA but will take the train over sitting in traffic any day of the week. This picture is the red line at Union Station.

I dont know what they put in here and neither do I want to know, all I know is I feel like a cutty because it’s like crackberry to me. I was there again today and chances are I will be there again tomorrow.

Life in the big city

Today I shook hands with about 15 new people I have never met. I talked with a resident who was a retired Fire Fighter for the city of Los Angeles for 25 years. I met a guy who convinced me he is going to win the mega millions lottery tomorrow. I saw a man fall down because he was texting on his phone and trying to talk on his blackberry at the same time. It was kind of funny. I was stopped in traffic on the street and a lady next time me was driving and putting on make up at the same time. Shouldnt she get a ticket for that? I saw the same driver I see every day hanging outside his Maybach waiting for his client. I see him everyday and ask him who his client is and he laughs and never tells me, someday i will be there when the mystery client comes out to get in the $300,000 car. I saw a car accident, a guy was clearly in a rush and hit the brand new Mercedes, she was pissed. A commercial or movie was being filmed and everyone stopped to watch. I saw a few cars get towed away. But the best part is I stopped in the park today and sat under a tree and could hear the energy of the city, the trees, the coversations, the honking, the birds. Welcome to the big city.
